About this board game
C-Cross is a two-player board game with a play time of about 30 minutes, in which players use pawns and C-shaped tiles to connect two opposing sides of the game board.
Before placing one of your large C-shaped tiles, you must first place three of your pawns in the area where that tile will go. Once you conquer the area and cover it with your tile, those three pawns return to your supply, ready to be used again.
However, claiming an area is not always straightforward. If your opponent has a pawn in the area when you cover it, you must lose one of your pawns elsewhere on the board. That pawn is replaced by your opponent’s pawn, turning a successful placement into a potentially costly exchange.
- Place three pawns to prepare an area for a C-shaped tile.
- Cover conquered areas and return your three pawns to your supply.
- Manage the consequences of covering an area containing an opposing pawn.
- Connect two opposing sides with your C-tiles to win.
The central challenge in C-Cross is balancing expansion with the risk of giving your opponent an opportunity to replace one of your pawns elsewhere. Every tile placement can advance your connection while changing the position of pawns across the board.
You win by connecting two opposing sides with your C-tiles. There is also another route to victory: if your opponent cannot play, you win. Released in 2015, C-Cross combines area claiming, pawn placement, and direct competition in a focused two-player contest.
