About this board game
Ars Mysteriorum is an alchemy competition game for 3–5 players, with sessions lasting about 120 minutes. Each player takes the role of an apprentice competing in King Florim’s contest, where success is measured in money.
To advance, apprentices barter favors for basic elements such as Brimstone, Verdigris, and Salt. These resources help you gain entrance into the Masters’ tents, where you must demonstrate your ability to complete an alchemical recipe.
- Barter favors for essential basic elements.
- Use those elements to enter Masters’ tents.
- Complete recipes and add them to your Recipe Book.
- Earn money for the best combinations of recipes at the end of each day.
The recipes capture the extraordinary ambitions of alchemy, including turning lead into gold and sand into rubies. Each successful completion adds another recipe to your book, building the collection that will determine your earnings throughout the competition.
At the end of every day, apprentices are paid for their strongest combinations of recipes. This continuing reward gives your completed work value beyond the moment it is made, while the competition pushes every player to pursue the most profitable path.
When the competition ends, the apprentice with the most money is declared the new Master Alchemist. With its focus on favors, elemental resources, recipe completion, and daily payments, Ars Mysteriorum presents a focused contest for players seeking to turn simple ingredients into alchemical success.
