About this board game

Moving Day is a packing and planning board game for 2–4 players, playable in about 40 minutes. Set in Québec’s famously busy July 1st moving tradition, it challenges you to load your belongings into vehicles while coordinating help from the community.

On each turn, choose a set of two item tiles and one person card from the general display, then assign them to your vehicles. Vehicles have limited space and different shapes, so every placement matters. Items must be loaded from the bottom to the top, creating a careful puzzle as you decide how to use your available room.

Weight and teamwork are crucial. Putting a heavy item on top of a lighter one can crush the item underneath, while clumsy helpers may break fragile belongings. Each person also has a different strength, so your recruited team should be strong enough to lift the heavier items you plan to move. Some people bring food tokens, however, making them difficult to turn away.

  • Choose two item tiles and one person card each round.
  • Fit items into vehicles with limited space and varied shapes.
  • Match people’s combined strength to the weight of your belongings.
  • Protect lighter and fragile items from damaging placements and clumsy helpers.

After eight rounds, every player has assigned sixteen item tiles and eight people cards to their vehicles. Scoring rewards heavy items, adjacent items sharing the same shape or type, and food tokens, while broken items reduce your results.

With a blend of spatial planning, risk management, and tactical selection from a shared display, Moving Day turns a community moving effort into a compact competition. The player with the most points wins.
