About this board game
Outfoxed! is a fast, quirky two-player card game for a roughly 20-minute showdown between hungry foxes and elusive birds. One player controls the foxes, while the other commands the birds in a tactical battle for survival.
To begin, the bird player places 25 bird cards face-up within an invisible 8×8 grid. These cards form the Flock, and they must remain connected by sharing sides throughout the game. The fox player starts by placing one fox on any bird, eating it and removing it from play.
On each turn, a card from the black deck determines how many moves may be made. Foxes can move only by pouncing on a bird and taking its place, while birds can fly to an open space on the grid. The Flock creates an ongoing challenge: no move may separate even one bird from the rest.
- A “Plus” card drawn by the fox player adds a fox to the game.
- A “Plus” card drawn by the bird player adds three more birds.
- Foxes aim to eat every bird.
- Birds aim to surround the foxes on all eight adjoining spaces.
The fox player wins by eating all the birds. The bird player wins by surrounding the fox or foxes with eight birds—on all four sides and all four corners.
With its changing movement limits, expanding forces, and connected Flock, Outfoxed! turns a simple card setup into a compact contest of positioning and pursuit. Every pounce or flight must balance immediate opportunities against the need to keep the birds together.
