About this board game

Quartz: O Jogo de Cartas is a card game for 2–4 players that plays in about 30 minutes. In this contest of mining dwarves, players explore a mysterious cave, gather colorful crystals, and compete to become the owner of the newly discovered mine.

On your turn, choose between exploring the mine and protecting the crystals you have already found. When you explore, reveal cards from the Mine Deck one at a time. You can stop and collect the crystals revealed, or continue searching for more valuable finds.

There is a catch: if an accident happens before you stop, you lose all the crystals gathered during that exploration. Each decision weighs the hope of a better collection against the danger of walking away empty-handed.

• Reveal Mine Deck cards while deciding when to stop.
• Spend some crystals to hire Assistants.
• Use Assistants to help your plans or disrupt an opponent’s turn.
• Protect all crystals of one kind by storing them in your chest.

Assistants add another layer of interaction. Some can support your efforts, while others can interfere with rival miners, making the race for the mine more than a solitary search for treasure.

If you protect your crystals, all crystals of the same kind may be stored in your chest, keeping them safe from opponents. At the end of the game, players score points for sets of crystals they found. The player with the most points wins the competition and claims ownership of the mine.

Released in 2023, Quartz: O Jogo de Cartas combines exploration, risk management, collection building, and direct player interaction in a compact race for the most valuable crystal haul.
