About this board game

Xibalba is a 2016 board game for 2–4 players with an average play time of 60 minutes, set in an inter-apocalyptic dieselpunk world. In an alternate 1948, alien resources have transformed industrial development, while the remains of civilization struggle for survival.

Players gather resources, expand their bases, and compete to reach the contested ark. Build your position with soldier, civilian, and structure cards, then weaken opposing factions through attacks and raids. The goal is to loot Paragon and become the first player to reach the amount required for victory.

Gameplay follows a turnaround sequence that combines dice and cards. Players roll dice to determine their available resources and attacks before taking actions such as purchasing cards, attacking opponents, raiding them, and looting Paragon. This combination creates strategic opportunities while keeping the flow of each round clear.

  • Choose from 8 player factions.
  • Combine dice rolls with card-based decisions.
  • Expand your base with different types of cards.
  • Attack and raid opponents to weaken their positions.
  • Set the required Paragon total before play for an adjustable game duration.

The victory condition can be adjusted at the start, so games may vary considerably in length. New strategic possibilities emerge with each game, supported by high replayability and atmospheric full-color artwork.

With its distinctive dieselpunk setting, Xibalba presents a tense struggle over resources, bases, and Paragon. A second copy allows games for up to eight players, while the standard game supports two to four.
