About this board game
90 Grad is a two-player abstract marble game played in about 15 minutes, with victory achieved by reaching the center or removing the opposing queen from the board.
Each player begins with seven marbles: one queen and six regular marbles. The queens start in opposite corners, while each player’s regular marbles flank their queen, with three on each side.
On every turn, choose one marble and move it in an orthogonal direction. The distance it travels is determined by the number of marbles in the row perpendicular to the direction of movement. This unusual movement rule makes every position matter and links each move to the arrangement of marbles on the board.
Players alternate turns while trying to create the right opportunities for their queen and restrict the opponent’s options. The game ends as soon as one of its two winning conditions is met:
- Push the opponent’s queen from the board.
- Move your own queen to the central square.
Because movement depends on the marbles occupying perpendicular rows, positioning is central to every decision. Advancing your queen may bring you closer to the central square, while shifting other marbles can affect how far pieces are able to move on later turns.
Released in 2000, 90 Grad offers a concise head-to-head contest built around spatial awareness, direct objectives, and a distinctive counting-based movement system. With only two possible paths to victory, each turn can change the balance between attacking the opposing queen and pursuing the center yourself.
