About this board game

Schlacht am Buffet is a 30-minute board game for 3–6 players in which mice compete around a buffet table to claim dishes and score the most points.

Each player begins with nine cards. In every turn, everyone simultaneously chooses one card and places it face-down. Players then take turns revealing their cards and moving their mice around the buffet table.

Once all cards have been revealed, the mouse that is alone in last place is eliminated. Its player must take the least valuable dish currently available on the table, creating a difficult choice between position and reward.

When only two mice remain, the leading mouse receives the best dish, provided it is alone on its field. The mouse in second place receives nothing. After each distribution, players refill their hands until they once again hold nine cards.

In Schlacht am Buffet, dishes of the same kind must be stacked on previously collected dishes. At the end of the game, only the top dish of each kind counts, so the order in which dishes are acquired matters.

The game ends when all dishes have been distributed. Players then compare their points, and the player with the highest total wins.
