About this board game

Supermarina I: Command at Sea Volume II is a tactical naval combat game for 2–12 players, with an approximately 150-minute play time. Set during the War in the Mediterranean from 1939 through June 1941, it examines the struggle for naval supremacy and the vital supply link supporting Axis forces in North Africa.

Using Larry Bond’s award-winning Command at Sea rules system, the game presents the Mediterranean naval war through a collection of detailed scenarios. It is the first part of a projected three-part treatment of the conflict, covering the action from the war’s beginning through June 1941.

The 64-page Scenario Book includes 20 scenarios, offering situations involving forces ranging from E-Boats to aircraft carriers and battleships. Across these scenarios, the game represents 140 total ships and includes the units featured in the first half of the war.

  • 96-page ship and aircraft Data Annex
  • Over 400 die-cut ship and aircraft counters
  • 128-page, punched third-edition Standard Rules for a three-ring binder
  • Jump-start scenario and scenario generator

Supermarina I was released in 1996 and combines its scenario material, reference information, counters, and standard rules in one boxed set. Its focus is the naval contest that shaped whether forces operating in North Africa could receive the supplies and equipment needed to continue the struggle.
