About this board game

Duple is a quick-thinking word game for 3–6 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Players flip letter cards in turn, watching for matching symbols and preparing to find a word under pressure.

When the symbols on two players’ cards match, those players face off. The challenge is to be the first to shout a word containing both letters shown on the cards. A correct answer must be at least five letters long and fit the category currently in play.

Because the categories keep changing, familiar letters can lead to very different answers from one moment to the next. You might need an animal containing two letters, a place containing another pair, or a verb that uses the symbols revealed. The examples include “leopard,” “barnyard,” and “explode.”

• Changing categories: Adapt your answer to the current category.
• Special effects: Wild Cards and Cascades create unexpected face-offs.
• All Play: Bring everyone into a simultaneous showdown.

Wild Cards and Cascades keep the action unpredictable, while the All Play card gets everyone facing off at once. Duple combines fast recognition, flexible vocabulary, and quick decisions in a compact word challenge for groups of three to six.
