About this board game

Sissi!: Die Bohnenkaiserin is a standalone game for 3–5 players that takes about 45 minutes to play. Based heavily on Bohnanza, it brings human relationships into the beaniverse while introducing a distinctive new harvesting challenge.

The familiar bean types remain, but their quantities have changed. Garden, Red, Black-Eyed, Soy, Barf, Sow, and Fire Beans are now called Captain Beans, with frequencies ranging from 4 to 16. There are no 20-bean cards in this version, while the game includes a remarkable 50 Sissi Beans.

The large supply of Sissi Beans supports the central idea of the game: players want to alternate Captain, Sissi, Captain, Sissi—or the reverse—in their fields. This pattern gives the beans a new relationship to one another and makes field management especially important.

  • Standalone gameplay based heavily on Bohnanza
  • For 3–5 players
  • Approximately 45 minutes per game
  • Seven reduced-frequency Captain Bean types
  • 50 Sissi Beans for alternating field patterns

After all the normal phases of a turn, Sissi!: Die Bohnenkaiserin adds a dedicated Sissi Action phase. During this phase, any field containing two consecutive beans of the same type must be harvested. That extra requirement can interrupt carefully arranged patterns and gives the game its defining tension.

With its altered bean distribution and compulsory end-of-turn harvesting rule, Sissi!: Die Bohnenkaiserin offers a fresh standalone take on the Bohnanza system. Players must pay close attention to the sequence of beans in their fields as they work with both Captain and Sissi Beans.
