About this board game
Hoki: Fortune Telling Legacy Solitaire is a solo card game designed for one player, with attempts that take about five minutes and a listed play time of 10 minutes. Each round begins with an arrangement of 24 cards, and your goal is to discard every card according to the game’s rules—a success known as clearing the deck.
The rules offer simple decisions at each moment while creating substantial opportunities for planning. Across many short attempts, the game encourages curiosity and meditation through a statistically interesting solitaire puzzle that is easy to pick up during free time.
Progress unfolds through a legacy system built around a story divided into three Acts. Act One introduces the game’s strategies through a tutorial that is not too obvious, while Acts Two and Three present increasingly demanding challenges.
- Clear the deck in all 8 ways to complete one challenge.
- Clear it in all 24 ways to complete the next.
- Transform the deck as cards are replaced according to your win-states.
- Gradually increase the impact of those changes on your strategic choices.
When these challenges are complete, the deck is fully transformed and a fortune-telling book, sealed in a bag, is unlocked. The player becomes a Seer and receives a fortune after every successful clear.
There are 72 unique, poetic fortunes, with the result influenced by the path taken to clear the deck. After the legacy system is finished, Hoki becomes an enduring pastime: a compact solitaire experience with evolving strategy and a fortune waiting after each success.
