About this board game
Clue is a 2–6 player board game with an approximate play time of 45 minutes, featuring traditional clue-sheet gameplay across a two-sided board.
One side presents the Mansion with modernized graphics, while the opposite side features a Boardwalk/beach scene. The Boardwalk setting also updates play with three red cards, each placed in an assigned spot on the board for players to obtain.
These red cards provide special opportunities that can change how you gather information. Their effects include:
- Take one card from each player, mark the cards on your clue sheet, and return them to their owners.
- Choose a player who must secretly show you two cards.
- For the rest of the game, ask one additional question whenever you ask a CLUE question.
The 2013 version adds another information element in games with four or six players: three cards are placed face up for everyone to see at the beginning of the game. This gives those player counts a shared set of visible cards from the start.
With its choice of two board scenes, Clue combines familiar card-and-question play with updated presentation and special red-card effects. Whether players use the Mansion side or the Boardwalk/beach side, the game centers on recording information and making use of the cards revealed or obtained during play.
