About this board game

The Imposter Kings Card Game is a 2–4 player card game with an approximately 20-minute play time, combining escalating card values, bluffing, deception, and powerful character abilities.

Each card has a value from 1 to 9, and players can typically play cards with an equal or higher value than the card already in play. Since the path from the lowest values to the highest is rarely straightforward, success depends on recognizing which cards can counter your strongest opponent and help secure your place on the Throne.

The Court’s characters create sharp tactical possibilities. The low-value Assassin can immediately assassinate any King, while the King’s Hand can step in the way and protect them. The Inquisitor can force the Assassin into the open before the attack begins.

  • Soldier: A value-5 character whose suspicions can make them more potent on the Throne.
  • Queen/Princess: A value-9 card that can push around much of the Court.
  • Elder: A value-3 character who reminds the Court that no one is above the law.
  • Oathbound: A value-6 figure who may step up to the Throne and brush others aside.

In The Imposter Kings Card Game, every play can affect your own objective while hindering someone else’s. Fight alongside temporary allies, conceal what you may hold, force opponents to reveal their plans, and assassinate anyone standing in your way.

Designed to be quick to learn yet challenging to master, the game offers a compact contest filled with shifting alliances and clever counters. A typical round takes around 10–20 minutes, depending on the player count and experience.
