About this board game
Mission Impractical is a creative party game for 3–5 players, released in 2016, about communicating a secret mission without directly talking about it.
Four mission cards are placed on the table. The active player draws a number to determine which mission must be fulfilled, then selects four items from sixteen available item cards to provide clues. The challenge is to create a connection between unlikely objects and a hidden goal.
- Choose one of four missions using the drawn number.
- Select four item cards as clues.
- Have the other players tell stories explaining what they think the plan might be.
- Reveal the real mission and award points for correct guesses.
For example, a trampoline, motorcycle helmet, water wings, and clothesline might suggest anything from impressing the in-laws to jumping from a plane, getting past a bouncer, or putting the kids to bed. The fun comes from seeing how creatively players interpret the same set of objects—and how closely their stories match the active player’s actual plan.
Each player who guesses correctly earns a point, and the active player also receives a point for every correct guess. A player who identifies the mission before the fourth item is chosen can claim a bonus point, but only one such point is available per round, so timing matters.
With its deliberately impractical combinations and playful disregard for the laws of physics, Mission Impractical turns imagination, deduction, and storytelling into the heart of every round.
