About this board game

Saganami Island Tactical Simulator is a 2–8-player space combat game, released in 2005, with a listed play time of about 120 minutes. Using the Attack Vector: Tactical game engine, it places players in command of warships from the universe of Honor Harrington.

Combat unfolds in fully three-dimensional vector space, where movement follows fast, simple, and highly accurate Newtonian rules. Ships can maneuver beyond the plane of the map, creating tactical possibilities that extend well beyond a conventional two-dimensional engagement.

Long-range missile duels form one part of the battle, with opponents dancing through space before unleashing laser heads. Fleets can also close to “kissing distance,” where the titanic power of grasers and lasers comes into play. Every decision is shaped by position, movement, range, and the tactical parameters of the Honorverse.

  • Two game scales: the tactical scale uses 12-minute turns and 1-light-second hexes, while the system scale uses 1-hour turns and 25-light-second hexes.
  • Newtonian movement: pursue opponents through space with intuitive rules designed for fast play and tactical accuracy.
  • Honorverse detail: the game includes researched material on the Royal Manticoran Navy and the People’s Republic Navy.
  • Flexible battles: typical games run 3 to 10 turns, with turns taking roughly 10 to 20 minutes.

Saganami Island Tactical Simulator also includes rules for incorporating “The Honor Factor” without unduly distorting the tactical engine. Its release schedule provides statistics for warships from the series, along with additional ships approved by David Weber himself.

From missile exchanges at extreme range to brutal close combat, SITS offers complete tactical control over a hundred-thousand-ton cruiser in the pitiless depths of space.
