About this board game
Friesematenten is a card game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. The goal is to collect enough of the right type of cards to score 40 victory points.
Cards are collected through auctions, making each acquisition part of the route to victory. The cards in your game can provide victory points, produce income, or give you actions that manipulate cards already in play.
This range of card functions gives Friesematenten a distinctive focus on collecting and managing a changing set of cards. Success depends on obtaining the right types while making use of the different benefits those cards provide.
- Auctions: Collect cards through competitive bidding.
- Victory points: Gather the right cards to work toward 40 points.
- Income: Use cards that produce income.
- Actions: Play cards that manipulate cards already played.
Friesematenten is semi-collectible, with more than 200 cards in the full game. Each individual game uses a subset of those cards, so the cards available in one session are not the complete collection.
The base game includes two extension sets of 60 random cards and is enough for a two-player game. Released in 1998, it offers a card-driven auction experience for players who enjoy collecting cards with different roles and working toward a clear victory-point target.
