About this board game

Brawling Barons is a tactical card game for 2–3 players, with games taking about 20 minutes. In this contest for royal favor, barons expand their domains, construct buildings, support the king’s war effort, and look for opportunities to hinder their neighbors.

The game uses a deck of 54 cards. Players draw cards and collect resources, then decide how best to develop the units in their hands. Peasants can be upgraded by rotating them into buildings, while squires can be transformed into different military units.

Military units offer two important paths to victory. They can be sent to the frontlines to gain victory points, or they can attack opposing towns. With the king focused on the war, tactical players may find room for a well-timed assault against a rival’s domain.

  • Choose which units to play and when to commit them.
  • Optimize your actions while managing available resources.
  • Use events at the right moment to strengthen your plans.
  • Develop buildings or support the war effort to gain victory points.

Timing is central to every decision. Waiting for the perfect moment can be just as valuable as acting immediately, and the right combination of units, actions, and events can reveal unexpected depth beneath the game’s simple first impression.

When the last card is removed from the deck, the game ends and victory points are counted. Brawling Barons can be played in 10–20 minutes by two experienced players, while three-player games take about 30 minutes. Combining two decks allows up to six players to compete in a deathmatch or team game.
