About this board game
Forgotten Legions: Designer Signature Edition is a two-player operational wargame for 1–4 players, with campaigns designed to be completed in a single sitting of about 420 minutes. It combines two re-mastered classics by Vance von Borries: Drive on Damascus and Bloody Keren.
In Drive on Damascus, players recreate the June and July 1941 Allied invasion of Vichy French-held Syria and Lebanon. Open desert maneuvering, mountain fighting, coastal infiltration, and the possibility of German intervention create a fluid campaign shaped by outflanking and attacks.
Bloody Keren covers the January through April 1941 campaign in Italian Eritrea, culminating historically at the mountain pass of Keren. Players allocate forces among mountain passes, launch attacks and counter-attacks, and contend with guerrilla forces seeking to cut off reinforcements arriving from the south.
- Two complete games: both use the same basic rules set and are included in one package.
- Historical detail: archival-based orders of battle represent armor, air power, ranged artillery, flotillas, commandos, garrisons, mountain units, and untried units.
- Flexible play: each game includes a short scenario and a Campaign scenario; campaigns can support up to four players, with two players per side.
- Updated presentation: revised rules, charts and tables, maps, and larger 5/8-inch counters enhance the original designs.
Suitable for solitaire play as well as two-player games, the edition offers short, illustrated common rules alongside extensive Design Notes. With a larger playing surface featuring two maps, Forgotten Legions presents an expanded tribute to two thoughtful and balanced wargaming classics about often-overlooked conflicts in the Mediterranean Theater and East Africa.
