About this board game
Fish Eat Fish is a competitive board game for 2–5 players that plays in about 30 minutes. Players move stacks of fish around the sea, challenge adjacent opponents, and compete to catch the most fish pieces.
Each player begins with stacks containing 1 to 5 fish. When adjacent stacks engage in combat, players play cards and add the number on each card to the number of fish in their stack. The player with the highest total wins, placing their stack on top of the losing stack.
- Move and compete: Guide fish stacks around the board in search of prey.
- Use cards carefully: Card values can turn a combat in your favor, but each card may only be played once.
- Grow your catch: Stacks larger than five fish send the extras to the winner’s pool of caught fish.
- Watch for ties: If combat totals match, both fish stacks are discarded.
The central challenge is balancing immediate victories with future threats. A high card can help defeat a growing opposing stack, but using it now means it will not be available for a later combat. Players must judge when to commit strength, when to hold back, and how to respond when a larger fish appears.
With its focus on challenges, bluffs, card timing, and growing stacks, Fish Eat Fish creates a lively contest for control of the sea. Catch as many fish pieces as possible and build the largest pool to win.
