About this board game
Disaster on Everest is a solitaire board game for 1 player, with an approximately 60-minute challenge of guiding clients to the summit of Mt. Everest and safely back to base camp.
You control a group of guides and climbers during a dangerous ascent while a deadly storm approaches. Each turn limits how many climbers you can move, making every decision important. Guides can move clients farther, but the clients outnumber the guides, so careful planning is essential.
Every turn also brings an event chit that must be managed. You can purchase the event with a limited supply of Prestige Points, or allow it to advance the Storm Track and hasten the storm’s arrival. When the storm phase begins, movement decreases and managing your clients becomes more difficult.
- Move guides and clients across Everest’s treacherous ridges.
- Navigate the technically challenging Hillary Step.
- Use guides’ special abilities to escort clients safely.
- Manage events as the storm approaches.
- Score points for clients who reach the summit and survive the return to base camp.
The ascent is not simply a race to the top. Your company’s prestige depends on how many clients reach the summit and live to tell the tale, while important clients and limited resources add pressure to every choice.
Advanced and optional rules introduce client traits and unique travel company abilities, offering additional ways to approach the expedition. In Disaster on Everest, success requires balancing movement, guides, prestige, and time before the inevitable mountain disasters overtake your climbers.
