About this board game
Mutants and Death Ray Guns is a fast-paced post-apocalyptic science-fantasy miniatures game for 2–6 players, with battles lasting about 30–45 minutes. Based on the mechanics of Song of Blades and Heroes, it uses simple rules designed to keep skirmishes moving.
After 200 years of nuclear and biochemical war, rival races struggle for supremacy across a scorched Earth. Build a small band of after-the-bomb desperadoes and confront irradiated terrain, contagious diseases, aggressive life forms, malfunctioning equipment, and other dangers of the wasted world.
Choose forces from seven distinct groups: Humans, Androids, Mutants, Robots, Mutated Plants, Mutated Animals, and the disease-ridden Wretched. Collect artifacts, search for food, and fight over scarce pools of uncontaminated water, while carefully preserving every energy cell, ration, and drop of water.
- Play with as little as four miniatures per player on a 2×2-foot table.
- Use three measuring sticks for movement and range.
- Command characters with physical and mental mutations, power armor, high-tech weapons, and psionic powers.
- Start quickly with 40 pre-generated characters and six scenarios.
Campaign rules let characters improve after each battle, gaining new mutations and equipment as they fight to survive. The game supports any single-based miniatures in any scale, and it also includes a list of suitable miniature manufacturers.
Complete and standalone, Mutants and Death Ray Guns does not require Song of Blades and Heroes. Its compact battles and one-evening mini-campaign format make it a convenient choice for groups seeking tense, resource-focused post-apocalyptic skirmishes.
