Dig Mars

About this board game

Dig Mars is a 30-minute board game for 2–4 players about racing rival corporations to uncover buried discoveries on Mars. Players move across stacks, reveal discovery tiles, collect their rewards, and decide whether to spend those rewards on better equipment.

Each turn, players choose from four different actions. Move one of your tokens to an adjacent stack horizontally or vertically. Then, when the opportunity is right, Dig to reveal the top tile of a stack containing at least one of your tokens.

• Move: Shift one token to an adjacent horizontal or vertical stack.
• Dig: Reveal the top tile of a stack where you have a token.
• Carry out: Take a revealed tile into your possession and gain its fortune points.
• Upgrade: Discard tiles to pay fortune points and advance your equipment to the next level.

Discovery tiles are worth varying numbers of fortune points, which makes every uncovered find a tempting decision. You can collect points to move closer to victory, or use them to upgrade your equipment—for example, advancing it from level 2 to level 3.

Timing is central to Dig Mars. Choosing when to reveal a tile, when to carry it out, and when to invest your fortune points in an upgrade can determine whether you reach the finish first. The game ends when a player collects the required amount of fortune points, determined by the number of players, and that player wins.
