About this board game
Vanished Planet is a cooperative board game for 1–6 players, with an approximate playing time of 60 minutes. Players work together to save the home worlds of six peoples from a mysterious Creature spreading through the galaxy.
Earth has vanished, replaced by a writhing mass of darkness that consumes energy and matter. As the Creature’s tentacles reach toward the other home worlds, communication networks fail, colonies revolt, and the peoples of the Galactic Sextant struggle to respond.
Players must develop complex strategies while racing against the Creature’s progress. The game focuses on several connected challenges:
- Ship movement across the threatened galaxy
- Resource management during a rapidly escalating crisis
- Technology building using bizarre blueprints transmitted from vanished Earth
Cooperation is essential: everyone either wins together or loses together. The surviving ship Hope carries vital witnesses and brings the truth of Earth’s disappearance to the six peoples, while mysterious messages from Earth provide instructions for banishing the Creature and preparing for Earth’s possible return.
Vanished Planet offers a scalable difficulty level, allowing families and newer players to face a more accessible challenge while experienced groups can pursue a far more demanding struggle. It supports games with as few as one player or as many as six, making the cooperative crisis flexible for different groups.
Set in a richly detailed science-fiction universe shaped by trade, diplomacy, technological discovery, and impending destruction, Vanished Planet asks players to coordinate their efforts before time runs out. The game is expanded by Vanished Planet: Racial Advantage Expansion.
