About this board game
Mopsen is a fast card game for 3–5 players, played in three rounds and lasting about 40 minutes. Players compete by playing cards while respecting each card’s color, number, and the current feeding order, which determines which animal is strongest.
Color is an important part of every play. If you have a pug card matching the required color, you must play it next to the corresponding pug. Cats are more flexible: they ignore the color rule and may be played even when you hold a suitable pug.
As cards are played in a row, strength decides who takes the cards. The player who played the strongest card collects the row in their discard pile. However, the cards’ printed numbers are not what ultimately matters. At the end of the game, players count the bones shown on their cards instead.
The weakest play brings a different opportunity. That player does not receive victory points, but may take one of the played cards into their hand and, crucially, change the feeding order. This creates a constantly shifting contest in which the current strength of the animals can change from one play to the next.
- For 3–5 players
- Three rounds of card play
- Color, number, and feeding order guide each turn
- Final scoring is based on bones rather than card numbers
With its quick card play and evolving feeding order, Mopsen offers a lively challenge for players who enjoy tactical decisions and changing priorities. Its pug theme adds charm, while the color restrictions, flexible cats, and bone-based scoring keep every card play meaningful.
