About this board game

Bienvenue à bord is a two-player board game that takes about 30 minutes, in which cruise organizers manage the reception of travelers aboard their boat.

Each round, one player becomes the dealer, draws three cards face up, and divides them into two groups. The other player chooses one group for themself, while the dealer takes the remaining cards, creating a constant balance between what you want and what you are willing to leave behind.

The cards offer three main ways to develop your boat:

  • Cabin cards let you open cabins across three levels, preparing them to receive passengers.
  • Passenger cards must be placed immediately into open cabins. They provide positive or negative victory points, or specific symbols, and their requirements and bonuses depend on the level of cabin they prefer.
  • Objective cards award additional points at the end of the game for meeting different criteria.

After each of the five rounds, one of four stopover cards is revealed and resolved. The player with the most of the specified element—such as passengers or open cabins—receives 6 victory points, giving each round an additional contest beyond the cards themselves.

When the game ends, players score further points for the symbols they have collected and the objectives they have completed. Bienvenue à bord combines immediate cabin management, passenger placement, card-group selection, and endgame goals in a compact contest for two.

Released in 2019, the game is only available in French.
