About this board game
WunderWaffen is a World War II board game for 2–4 players, with an approximately 150-minute play time, set during the final year of the conflict. As the Normandy landings open the way toward Berlin, the Allied players must coordinate their efforts while the German player fights to delay defeat.
The German army is close to collapse, but scientists and technicians are developing new and terrible weapons in secret laboratories. These WunderWaffen, or “wonder weapons,” represent Germany’s hope of changing the course of a seemingly hopeless war.
Using simple rules, the game focuses on the troubled collaboration between the Russian, British, and American Allies. Allied players face a difficult choice: advance rapidly toward Berlin, or spend valuable effort limiting German scientific research while trying to support one another.
- Advance the Allied forces toward Berlin.
- Limit German progress on the Research Track.
- Use the results of forces in the field to influence the final outcome.
The German player must move forward on the Research Track while putting up a desperate fight against the Allied advance. Holding the Allies back can delay the inevitable defeat, creating pressure throughout the game as both sides pursue competing priorities.
Victory is not necessarily guaranteed by holding Berlin. Germany may still win after losing the city, thanks to a scoring system that rewards the results of forces on the field. This gives WunderWaffen a distinctive final tension, where the Allied push and German resistance both matter until the end.
Released in 2025, WunderWaffen presents the closing phase of World War II through a focused struggle between military advance, scientific research, and uneasy Allied cooperation.
