About this board game
June ’44: The Struggle for Normandy, 1944 is a two-player game with an approximately 120-minute playing time, recreating the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944.
Designed as a low-complexity, highly interactive experience, the game combines hidden unit placements with player-influenced events. These systems make each play unique while conveying the uncertainty of combat faced by historical commanders.
The game uses a scale of two-day turns and 2.5 miles per hex, with units that are mostly divisions. Its structure also supports challenging and enjoyable solitaire play, offering a different way to experience the campaign.
- 11-by-17-inch hex-grid map sheet
- 120 color, die-cut counters
- 24 June ’44 event cards
- Two-sided player aid card
- 12-page color rulebook and one 10-sided die
Hidden information and event choices keep the situation uncertain as players recreate the invasion. Rather than presenting every outcome in advance, June ’44 places emphasis on the changing circumstances of the Normandy campaign.
Released in 2008, the game focuses on the events of June 1944. When combined with its expansion, August ’44, players can play through the entire Normandy campaign from 6 June to mid-August.
