About this board game

Dan and Phil’s Truth Bombs is a party game for 4–8 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Write answers about the other people at the table, read what has been written about you, and try to identify the author of your favorite response.

To begin, place question cards on the colored mats and give everyone a target sheet. Each player writes their name in the target box, then passes the sheet to the left. Taking the sheet received, choose an available question—such as “What are they terrible at?”—and write an answer about its target.

Pass the sheets left again and continue answering new questions that have not yet been used on each sheet. Keep going until every player’s sheet has been filled with answers. The passing format means everyone contributes observations about everyone else at the table.

  • Players write answers to questions about the target on each sheet.
  • Target players select their favorite answer.
  • Players guess who wrote the chosen response.

For each target, the answers are read aloud by the player holding that target’s sheet. The target then chooses a favorite answer and guesses who wrote it. The player responsible for the favorite answer scores one point, and the target also scores one point if their guess is correct.

Play a predetermined number of rounds, then discard the scores in the game’s deliberately irreverent finale. With its personal prompts, written responses, and guessing mechanic, Dan and Phil’s Truth Bombs turns the whole table into both the subject and the source of every answer.
