About this board game
Danger 13 is a card game for 2–5 players that plays in about 30 minutes. Each turn, the active player draws as many cards as there are players, without looking at them, then reveals and distributes them one at a time.
Every player receives exactly one card during the turn. Cards show a number from 0 to 5, and lower numbers are better as you build your personal total. Cards may also provide an action or victory points, creating tempting choices whenever a newly revealed card is offered.
After receiving a card, a player checks their total. If it reaches 13 or more, every other player receives victory points from their own cards, while the unlucky player discards all of their cards. The result is a constant balancing act: unwanted cards can be dangerous, but passing a valuable card may help another player score.
Special card actions add ways to manage the danger:
- Veto cards let you say no to a card in the future.
- 13 → 18 raises your bust total to 18.
- Lose your last card helps reduce your total.
- Some cards provide 1 or 2 victory points immediately.
In Danger 13, the active player controls which face-up card goes to each player, including themselves, but every choice can change the scoring situation. The German title translates as “That takes the biscuit,” an apt description of a game where reaching the wrong total can suddenly clear your hand and reward everyone else.
