Flames of War: Open Fire is a two-player World War II miniatures game and complete introductory box, released in 2009. Designed for newcomers, it provides a clear starting point for learning the full Flames of War rules rather than offering a simplified version.

The set includes a 164-page, full-colour mini-rulebook with diagrams and rules covering tanks, infantry, artillery, aircraft, snipers, reconnaissance, night fighting, and more. It also includes special rules for the nations involved in the battles.

A separate 16-page introduction booklet works alongside the mini-rulebook. It teaches the skills needed to become a World War II general, introduces the basic mechanics, and helps new players navigate the rules during their first couple of games. The included missions lead players toward their first full battles.
