About this board game
Matterhorn is a 30-minute climbing race for 2–4 players, in which the first player to reach the top of the Matterhorn wins.
It is 3 o’clock in the morning, and the climb cannot wait. Wake up, eat a little, light your headlamp, and prepare to begin the ascent of the Cervin.
At the heart of the game is a simple but tense dice-rolling decision. Throw the dice, then decide whether to throw them again as you work toward the summit. Each additional roll offers the possibility of continuing your progress, but staying in the climb too long can cost you the turn.
The key is knowing when to stop. Push your luck to advance, or end the rolling at the right moment so you do not waste your turn. Every decision brings the summit closer—or risks slowing your attempt to become the first climber at the top.
- For 2–4 players
- Approximately 30 minutes to play
- Dice-rolling and push-your-luck decisions
- Race to reach the top first
Matterhorn turns the ascent into a compact contest of timing and nerve. With its early-morning climbing theme and straightforward rerolling challenge, it invites players to balance ambition against the danger of wasting a turn.
Released in 2017, Matterhorn offers a focused race where every roll matters and the route to the summit depends on making the right choice at the right time.
