About this board game

King’s Valley is a two-player board game released in 2006, with a typical play time of just five minutes. Played on a 5×5 board, it gives both players the same clear objective: move their king to the central square, which represents the King’s Valley.

The rules are simple because all pieces move in the same way. On a turn, a piece may move horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, but it must travel as far as possible in the chosen direction. Its movement ends at the edge of the board or immediately before another tile in the same row, column, or diagonal.

Each player begins with five pieces positioned on opposite sides of the board. The pieces in the center of each starting arrangement are the players’ kings, making their movement toward the central destination the focus of the game.

  • For 2 players
  • Played on a 5×5 board
  • Each player starts with 5 pieces
  • Pieces move horizontally, vertically, or diagonally
  • The first player to move their king to the center wins

Because every piece follows the same movement rule, King’s Valley is easy to learn and quick to play. The board’s central square provides a precise goal, while the requirement to move as far as possible defines every move and keeps the contest focused from beginning to end.
