About this board game

Hits & Outs is a two-player baseball-inspired guessing game that recreates the strategic battle between pitcher and batter in about 15 minutes.

There are no balls or strikes to track. Instead, the game focuses on the decisive moments of baseball: finding the hidden ball, earning hits, avoiding outs, and scoring runs. Each inning, players take turns at the plate and on the mound.

When batting, guess the base where the pitcher has hidden the baseball. A correct guess produces a hit and lets you move your runners by the number of bases represented by the hidden location. If the ball is hidden at second base and you find it, you hit a double and may move your runners two bases.

When pitching, your goal is to prevent the batter from reaching base and scoring. Fool the batter three times, and the incorrect guesses become outs. This creates a focused contest of deduction and deception, with each guess offering a chance to advance or shut down the offense.

The game keeps the excitement of baseball while removing the need to record player statistics or the result of every pitch. Its streamlined structure puts the spotlight on the interaction between the two players and the tension of each hidden-base guess.

At the end of the game, the player with the most runs wins. Released in 2025, Hits & Outs offers a concise tabletop interpretation of baseball’s pitcher-versus-batter mind game.
