About this board game
Yamma is a two-player abstract strategy game played in around 30 minutes, inspired by Connect Four. The goal is familiar: create a line of four cubes in your color and win.
What makes the game distinctive is its rotating board. Triangular slots hold cubes on their corners, revealing three sides that can each be viewed from a different point of view. To succeed, you must form your line of four in one of these three perspectives.
The components are designed to make the rules intuitive. Each cube is painted so that, regardless of its orientation, one side displays a different color from the other two. This visual design helps turn the game’s unusual three-dimensional structure into something that is easy to learn.
- Abstract strategy for exactly two players
- Three-dimensional board and victory perspectives
- Rotating board with triangular cube slots
- Colored cubes that reveal three visible sides
Placement creates another layer of tension. Arranging three cubes in a cluster forms a valley where the next level can be placed, potentially covering and blocking an opponent’s progress or completing your own winning line. Every move can change what is visible and what remains possible.
Although Yamma has simple rules and components, it can be surprisingly difficult to master. The interaction between the three viewpoints and the three-dimensional placement system leads to unexpected twists, making the game especially strategic and tactical when two equally skilled players face off.
