About this board game
Ikonikus is an emotional card game for 3–8 players that plays in about 15 minutes. It invites everyone to explore how different people might feel in a wide range of situations, using symbols instead of words.
One player raises an issue or describes a situation, while the other players choose the card from their hand that best represents the emotion involved. The same symbol can suggest very different feelings, so every answer depends on the context and the player’s own point of view.
What might you feel while sitting in the dentist’s chair? How would you react if your mobile phone fell into the toilet? Ikonikus turns questions like these into opportunities for creative interpretation and lively discussion.
The cards contain only symbols, but their possible meanings are effectively open-ended. Players need to look beyond their own reactions and develop their empathy, trying to predict what the other participants would feel in each scenario.
Rather than relying on a single fixed interpretation, Ikonikus focuses on the connections between a situation, an emotion, and the person responding to it. That makes each question a chance to see familiar experiences from another perspective.
With its short play time and simple card-based premise, Ikonikus offers a compact way for groups to compare emotional viewpoints. Released in 2013, it is designed for 3–8 players who are ready to interpret symbols, imagine feelings, and discover how differently the same situation can be understood.
