About this board game

Cubeo is a fast-paced abstract dice game for two players, designed to play in about 15 minutes. No board or dice rolling is required: twelve six-sided dice, six in each player’s color, are arranged on a flat surface.

Players build a single connected two-dimensional formation, aiming either to create a merged die with a value greater than 6 or to prevent the opponent from making any valid action. The game begins with both players placing one die, each showing one dot, with the starting dice touching along a side.

On a turn, a player chooses one of three actions:

  • Add a die: Place it touching one of your own dice, without touching any opposing dice.
  • Move a die: Travel around the perimeter of the existing formation. The die’s value determines the number of steps, and the direction may be reversed during the move.
  • Merge two dice: If you have at least three dice in the structure, combine two adjacent friendly dice by adding their values and replacing one die with the total.

The formation must remain connected throughout play, making every placement and movement part of the larger spatial puzzle. A successful merge totaling more than 6 wins immediately.

If a player cannot perform any available action, that player loses instead. With its compact equipment and direct objectives, Cubeo turns ordinary six-sided dice into a changing tactical formation where position, movement, and timing matter.
