About this board game
Bloody Omaha: D-Day 1944 is a two-player Advanced Tobruk System game depicting the D-Day landing at Omaha Beach, with an approximate play time of 180 minutes. Released in 2009, it presents the battle in remarkable detail, from the first assault on the shore to the fight nearly a mile inland.
The game includes three maps covering Omaha Beach at a scale of 50 yards per hex. The map stretches from Vierville to St. Laurent and depicts every draw, house, and German Stuetzpunkt, or Strong Point. The American landing area runs from Dog Green to Easy Green, with Dog White and Dog Red between them.
American forces must fight their way off the beach while German players coordinate fire from Strong Points Wn71 through Wn66. The central question is whether American leaders can rally their men and establish a secure lodgment in Normandy.
- A detailed three-map presentation of Omaha Beach
- Strong Points Wn71 through Wn66 for the German defense
- A selection of small, fast-playing scenarios
- A large supply of counters for a giant, full-map scenario
Bloody Omaha: D-Day 1944 offers a complete beach-landing presentation, taking players through a historical experience comparable to the opening twenty minutes of Saving Private Ryan, while placing their decisions at the center of the action. The smaller scenarios provide a quick way to reach the map and learn the battle, while the full-map scenario delivers the game’s largest challenge.
With its combination of detailed terrain, historical landing beaches, German Strong Points, and the Advanced Tobruk System approach, the game focuses squarely on the struggle to survive the beach and push inland.
