About this board game

Micons is a children’s card game for 2–4 players, with a playing time of about 20 minutes. Players race to get rid of their cards by matching everyday objects to characteristics that may be visible or based on sensory ideas.

During each turn, players check their cards to see whether they have an object that fits the displayed characteristic. The match might involve an obvious feature such as a shape or color, or a less tangible concept such as sweet, salty, hot, cold, spicy, or noisy.

If a player can make a match, they put the card down, and play moves to the next player. The first player to play all their cards wins. Because some characteristics are open to interpretation, Micons also encourages players to explain and defend their choices.

  • Observe the objects shown on your cards.
  • Recall sensations associated with everyday life.
  • Find a card that matches the displayed characteristic.
  • Argue your interpretation when the connection is not immediately obvious.

The game combines quick observation with sensory memory, asking children to think about how familiar objects look, feel, taste, smell, or sound. Its casual format makes room for discussion and playful disagreements while keeping the central goal simple: be the first to empty your hand.

Micons includes 50 cards and instructions. Released in 2020, it offers a compact way for children to practice observation, reflection, and argumentation through everyday characteristics and familiar sensations.
