About this board game
Daytime Minutes is a might-follow trick-taking game for 3–5 players, with a play time of about 45 minutes. Players compete to collect minutes from cards while aiming to stay as close as possible to the plan limit without exceeding it.
During a trick, up to two different suits can be played. The winner of each suit collects all cards of that suit, creating a distinctive twist on traditional trick-taking: a single trick can have more than one suit winner.
- Play into tricks where up to two suits may appear.
- Collect the cards belonging to each suit you win.
- Gather minutes while trying not to exceed the plan limit.
- Watch for the special evening call that occurs on every third trick.
Scoring in Daytime Minutes rewards careful control. Players want to get as close to the plan limit as possible, but going over brings overage charges and costs a point. The player who captured the fewest minutes also loses a point, making both extremes significant.
Every third trick is an evening call. All cards played into that trick are discarded, changing how collected cards and future opportunities develop as the game continues.
With its two-suit trick structure, minute-collecting objective, and penalties for both overreaching and capturing the fewest minutes, Daytime Minutes focuses each trick on a balance between gaining enough and staying within the limit. Released in 2026, it offers a compact trick-taking challenge for groups of three to five.
