About this board game

Waterloo Solitaire is a 1-player board game with an approximately 60-minute play time, placing you in command of one side of the historic battle. You can lead Napoleon and the French army against an autonomous Allied opponent, or take Wellington’s role and command the Allied army against an autonomous French opponent.

The opposing side is represented by an Allied BOT or French BOT. Each BOT side is rated for its skill, giving the solo experience distinct opposing capabilities depending on which army you face. The game is designed around making your decisions while the opposing army operates autonomously.

Waterloo Solitaire uses a system similar to Waterloo Solitaire Bookgame, with physical components that make the action easy to track. Cubes and a hardmounted game board are used to record movements and attacks as the battle develops.

  • Play as Napoleon commanding the French army, or Wellington commanding the Allied army.
  • Face an autonomous Allied BOT or French BOT side.
  • Use cubes and a hardmounted board to track movements and attacks.
  • Win by destroying the required enemy formations.

Victory is normally achieved by destroying two or three enemy formations, depending on the side being played. This gives each command perspective a clear objective while keeping the focus on the opposing army, its skill rating, and the formations you must eliminate.

Released in 2023, Waterloo Solitaire offers a compact solo command experience based on the Waterloo setting. Its board, cubes, and autonomous opponent provide a dedicated tabletop version of the solitaire system for players who want to take either side of the conflict.
