About this board game
Olympic & Coronet is a 1–2-player board game covering the planned invasion of Japan through two complete operations: Olympic and its follow-up, Coronet. Both games can be played solitaire or with two players.
Operation Olympic updates the original Olympic solitaire game with a revised map reflecting a better understanding of Japan’s difficult—and sometimes impassable—terrain, along with updated potential landing sites. Operation Coronet presents the flat, wide-open Tokyo plain as the setting for the planned second invasion.
The counters incorporate new information about the Japanese order of battle, including the plan to move 36th Army to Kyushu as a counter-invasion force. This gives the Americans an opponent intent on breaking through to the beach, while updated Japanese doctrine and supply rules better represent the planned initial counterattack.
- Two complete invasion games: Operation Olympic and Operation Coronet
- Two full-sized 22×34-inch maps
- 560 counters with updated order-of-battle information
- Rules for naval gunfire, atomic bombs, and the Soviets
- Updated kamikaze rules based on further research into their probable effects
The Special Edition also adds naval gunfire, atomic bombs, and the Soviets, with the Soviet material drawn from a MOVES variant. Kamikaze rules have likewise been revised, while the broader system updates the Japanese doctrine and supply rules.
With two invasion areas, revised research, and separate treatments of Olympic and Coronet, Olympic & Coronet brings both planned operations together in one substantial package for solo and two-player play.
