About this board game

Decision at Kasserine: Rommel’s Last Chance – Designer Signature Edition is a one- to two-player operational-level simulation of the German and Italian offensive in central Tunisia during February 1943, with scenarios lasting approximately 3–8 hours.

On February 19, German forces attacked through the Kasserine Pass, inflicting heavy losses and forcing the Allies to retreat. The Allied forces regrouped and were reinforced, launching a major artillery attack on February 22. With supply lines overextended and resistance strengthening, Rommel withdrew and ordered Axis units to defend the German-held coastal areas.

This Designer Signature Edition faithfully remasters Vance von Borries’ 1983 classic while introducing a major update to the system used in the Battles for North Africa series. The game uses a scale of 12 hours per turn and two miles per hex, with units representing companies, battalions, artillery batteries, or groups.

  • Two maps with large hexes and updated artwork
  • Three sheets of supersized 5/8-inch counters
  • Revised order of battle and corrected deployment based on archival information
  • A completely rewritten rulebook with illustrations, examples, clarifications, an index, and historical notes
  • Three new scenarios, plus optional rules for mountain units, reinforcements, Allied artillery concentrations, and Allied command problems

Updated rules refine air units, armor bonuses, strongpoints, artillery, infiltration movement, combat evasion, and retreat options. Supporting charts and redesigned setup and reinforcement displays improve accessibility, while variable German victory conditions and the absence of hidden units support solitaire play.

With its expanded components, revised historical foundation, and detailed treatment of the campaign, Decision at Kasserine presents a substantial contest for one or two players, best enjoyed head-to-head.
