About this board game
Telepaths is a team word-matching game for 4–24 players, with sessions lasting about 60 minutes. Released in 1992, it challenges teammates to think alike while viewing the same card.
Each common card presents a prompt, such as a picture of an apple. Teammates independently create a list of five words they think fit the card, aiming to anticipate the answers their partners will write.
After the answers are compared, every matching entry helps the team move forward on the game board. The objective is not simply to find words that suit the card, but to discover the words that teammates are most likely to choose in common.
- Team-based word matching for 4–24 players
- A shared card with a common prompt
- Five-word lists created by teammates
- Forward movement for each matching entry
- Approximately 60 minutes of play
Different editions of Telepaths may include different writing components. Some provide peel-up erasing tablets, while others include a simple writing pad and expect players to supply their own pens or pencils.
With its focus on shared associations and teammate prediction, Telepaths turns familiar prompts into a test of how closely partners’ thoughts align. It offers a straightforward way for a larger group to compete through cooperation, comparison, and matching answers.
