About this board game
Road to Infamy is a fast-paced gangster-themed bidding game for 2–4 players, with each session taking about 45 minutes. Players compete to recruit powerful gangsters, acquire valuable contraband, and bribe the Cop while anticipating their opponents’ plans.
Each player begins with a hand of six bid cards. Cards are valued from 1 to 5, and the lower-valued cards can contain game-changing actions. Choose a bid, place it face down in the ready position, and reveal all bids simultaneously. The color of each card determines what you are bidding for.
- Red bids recruit gangsters with unique abilities.
- Green bids purchase contraband worth victory points.
- Blue bids bribe the Cop, protecting your points while forcing rivals to lose theirs.
After three rounds, the highest bidder for each color claims the corresponding prize. Players then collect their winnings and reset the board for the next hand. Since bids are revealed together, success depends on reading the table, taking calculated risks, and choosing the right moment to play a counter move.
Interaction comes from the action effects on lower-numbered bid cards. These can let you steal an opponent’s contraband, assassinate a rival’s mercenary, or improve the odds in your favor. Every gangster also provides a unique ability that remains active throughout the game, opening different strategic paths depending on who joins your team.
For example, the Mob Boss awards an additional victory point for each gangster you have, while the Recruiter gives a permanent +2 to your red bid total. Together, these abilities can help you win more gangster auctions and turn recruitment into a source of points. In Road to Infamy, everyone is always involved: the game ends after 12 rounds of bidding, and the player with the most victory points wins.
