About this board game

Treasures of Nakbe is a 2022 board game for 2–7 players that plays in approximately 45 minutes. Players explore the ancient Mayan city of Nakbe, searching for treasures while trying to escape the awakened god Ekchua.

An expedition has reached the middle of a temple in search of hidden riches. Their arrival disturbs Ekchua, who had been resting there, turning the treasure hunt into a desperate flight from the temple.

Players roll dice to move expedition members through the city. When an expedition member arrives on a space containing treasures, the player who moved that member takes the treasure. Every movement can therefore bring a reward, but it can also reveal danger.

• Roll and move: Use dice rolls to guide expedition members across the temple.
• Claim treasures: Reach treasure spaces to collect their riches.
• Hide your identity: Conceal which expedition member belongs to you.
• Escape Ekchua: Avoid being the first member to face the god’s fury.

Keeping your identity hidden is central to the expedition’s survival. If you fail to hide which member is yours, that member will be the first to face Ekchua’s fury. This creates a balance between moving toward valuable treasure and moving wisely enough to avoid exposure.

In Treasures of Nakbe, every dice roll contributes to the tension of the escape. Seek out as many treasures as possible, protect the identity of your expedition member, and make your way away from the awakened god before it is too late.
