About this board game

Celtic is an accessible family game for 2–4 players, ages 8 and up, with an approximately 60-minute play time. Players travel across the Wetterau region, trade with neighboring tribes, and compete to become the most influential Celt.

The Celtic Lord of the Wetterau is seeking a successor, so every player must prove their worth. On each turn, players perform one movement with their family members. Other players whose family members are at the starting location can choose to join that movement, creating opportunities for interaction even when it is not their turn.

Different locations offer different possibilities. Some allow players to collect goods, while others must be visited to fulfill goal cards. Completing these goals grants influence, which serves as the game’s victory points.

• Move family members around the region.
• Invite other players at your starting location to join your movement.
• Collect goods at the locations that provide them.
• Visit the required locations to fulfill goal cards and gain influence.

The game ends immediately when a player fulfills five goal cards or chooses to reveal that they have collected one good of every kind. Players then tally their points, and the Celt with the most influence wins.

With quick turns and the chance for inactive players to profit from another player’s movement, Celtic delivers a light tactical experience with little downtime. Released in 2020, it combines travel, trading, shared movement opportunities, and a clear race toward the end of the game.
