About this board game
Neuschwabenland is a tactical hex-and-counter combat game for two players, designed for sessions of around 60 minutes and also suitable for solitaire play.
Set in Antarctica in 1938, the game presents a hypothetical struggle between forces of the Third Reich and alien life forms. Following the expedition that gave the region its name, a secret Base 211 has been established, and the Reich has developed advanced weapon systems. When reconnaissance troops disappear and strange creatures are spotted, a general mobilization begins.
The two sides offer sharply different tactical challenges. The Reich commands advanced equipment and special units, including the UFO-like Haunebu, but harsh weather conditions limit unit activation. The alien forces can activate all their units, relying on sheer numbers and dangerous close-combat attacks.
- A tactical hex-and-counter combat system inspired by Space Crusade
- An Antarctic map measuring approximately 10 by 18 inches
- 88 counters and six scenarios
- A powerful alien exception in the form of the monstrous Tripod
While the Reich brings greater firepower to the battlefield, the alien creatures are especially threatening at close range. Their forces include strange two-metre-tall worm-like beasts and house-high creatures, creating a conflict where positioning, activation limits, and combat strengths all matter.
With asymmetric forces, a harsh Arctic setting, and multiple scenarios, Neuschwabenland delivers a focused confrontation for two players. The included components also provide the framework for solo engagements against the alien menace.
