About this board game
Alkemy is a two-player strategy skirmish miniature game set in a medieval fantasy world, with games lasting around 60 minutes. Each player controls a group of fighters represented by miniatures and directs them through a scenario-driven encounter against an enemy group.
Every game of Alkemy is driven by a scenario. You can use the basic scenario provided at the end of the game booklet, or create your own scenarios and stories for different kinds of encounters. This structure gives each battle a defined context while leaving room for players to shape their own conflicts.
Alkemy is designed for a compact force of around 10 to 15 miniatures. Rather than commanding a large army, you manage a focused group of fighters, making the order of your decisions especially important as the encounter unfolds.
- Scenario-driven play: Every game is built around a scenario, with options to use the provided scenario or create your own.
- Action Points: The turn system uses Action Points to manage what your fighters can do.
- Alternated card activation: Players alternate activating cards, and choosing the right order is a key part of play.
- Colored dice: Fights are resolved using differently colored dice.
The turn-based system combines resource management with alternating activation. Because the order in which cards are activated is very important, players must consider when to commit their fighters during each turn.
First released in 2008, Alkemy offers a focused miniature battle experience for two players. Its combination of custom scenarios, tactical activation choices, Action Points, and colored-dice combat provides a structured foundation for medieval fantasy skirmishes.
