About this board game
Naga Raja is a two-player treasure race played in about 30 minutes, where rival explorers build shifting temple mazes to uncover relics and reach 25 victory points.
Twin temples dedicated to forgotten divinities have been discovered in India. Each player explores their own temple, placing room tiles to create paths toward face-down relics hidden around it. Reveal sacred relics to score points, but beware: uncovering all three cursed relics of Garuda causes an immediate loss.
Every round, players compete for a new room tile by playing cards that let them throw fate sticks. The player showing the most Fate points wins the tile and adds it to their temple. However, the sticks can also show Naga symbols, which activate powerful card effects and create difficult choices.
- Use cards either to throw fate sticks or trigger their special effects.
- Build and adjust paths through a modular temple.
- Reveal relics for victory points while avoiding the cursed set.
- Use Naga symbols to disrupt positions, results, cards, and rooms.
The maze is never safe or permanent. Cards can make the maze slide, swap relic positions, place a Trap room in your opponent’s temple, change stick results, discard cards from an opponent’s hand, or force another throw. As rooms and relics move, plans can unravel at any moment.
With dual-use cards, variable fate-stick results, and constant opportunities to interfere, Naga Raja balances anticipation and strategy with sudden twists. Choose when to pursue points, when to manipulate the temple, and when to risk revealing what lies ahead.
